[8] + xiii + [72] pp of text + [1 + 61] plates tinted in gold, blue and red + list of subscribers. All edges gilt. Textured full leather with raised bands and purple endpapers. 19 inches tall. Occasional light foxing. Owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Name stamp to flyleaf. Title page has crease, damp stain and blue mark at fore edge, small tears along fore edge. Binding broken at front hinge before dedication page. Cover rubbed on back and along edges especially top corner, corners slightly bumped or curled. Contains the full set of plates as called for. This is an important work as not all the brasses have survived the 150 years since publication. The work was originally published in parts, due to the time and costs involved and the authors apologise in the foreword that the project has not been completed. Examples are drawn from England, France and Belgium.
